Chorus Line

These cows live along Bradenbaugh rd in Harford. Co. As I walked by they lined up to check me out. I wanted to break away from a realistic portrayal and play with color in oils the same way that I enjoy working with pastel. 12x24in oil on birch panel. SOLD

Better Days

I found this car on a morning walk in Keene Valley behind the old gas station (now a health club). I was attracted to its patina of rust and paint. I wanted to paint it fast and thickly and play up the rich browns and lavenders. This was a color mixing exercise for me. I bought some new colors , Venitian red being one of them, I won't think twice about how to get certain colors when I am out in the field. Being snowed in last night I worked from several photos I took on site, eliminating other cars in the picture and composing a new background. 10x10in oil on panel

First Snow

Still wet off the easel. one is some apple trees on the Crocker Farm on Somerville rd. just down the road( about 100ft. from the painting on the previous posting). The snow was just beginning to fall with a light dusting. The other painting is the woods next to the house at sunset. I always look for places to paint far away from home and these last are from my own backyard. both 9x12in. oil on birch panel. LEFT -SOLD
